Shorthand - Level 3 and Minute Taking

This course is suitable if you are a PA and responsible for preparing Minutes of Meetings for high level management meetings.
You will cover both theory and develop your speed to 80 wpm -100 wpm as well as develop your skills in preparing professional Minutes of Meetings.
This course will require you to cover more complex terminology.
You will be studying for the OCR, City & Guilds or NCTJ speed qualificaitons at 80 wpm - 100 wpm.

Teeline Theory |
Starting with the Teeline alphabet and then developing your knowledge in using a range of different techniques to write the spoken word more quickly including short forms, phraseology, suffixes and prefixes, omission of letters etc. |

Speed Development |
Developing your ability to take down the spoken word from a range of different dictation pieces, developing your ability to concentrate and focus, retain what has been said, applying your knowledge of shorthand theory. |

Transcription Skills |
Developing your confidence in using your shorthand and reading it back by completion of a variety of different tasks including completing exercises, writing stories in shorthand, using shorthand in everyday tasks, taking down shorthand dictation at speed up 80 wpm - 100 wpm. You will cover using Teeline for more complex documents, and terminology used in more demanding roles. |

Minutes of Meetings |
You will learn the correct techniques involved in taking down minutes of a business meeting, including tips on what to take down, and how to present the minutes of the meeting. |
You can study the number of hours per week that suits you and fits in with your other commitments.
We recommend that you study at least 5 hours a week, which can be broken up into one hour study slots perhaps, or 2-3 hours on a Saturday and Sunday if you find that easier.
Some students wish to study as quickly as possible – and complete the course in as short a time as possible.

The course is put on hold whilst you or the College are on holiday - enabling you to have holiday breaks whilst studying your course.
