This course is suitable if you wish to learn shorthand and develop your speed to 40-50 wpm.
You will cover both theory and speed in the course using Teeline shorthand system.
If you are involved in community work attending meetings, or wish to have this useful skill to help with taking down instructions, telephone messages or simple notes from meetings.
You will be studying for the OCR or City & Guilds or NCTJ speed exam at 40-50 wpm

Teeline Theory |
Starting with the Teeline alphabet and then developing your knowledge in using a range of different techniques to write the spoken word more quickly including short forms, phraseology, suffixes and prefixes, omission of letters etc.

Speed Development |
Developing your ability to take down the spoken word from a range of different dictation pieces, developing your ability to concentrate and focus, retain what has been said, applying your knowledge of shorthand theory.

Transcription Skills |
Developing your confidence in using your shorthand and reading it back by completion of a variety of different tasks including completing exercises, writing stories in shorthand, using shorthand in everyday tasks, taking down shorthand dictation at speeds up to 40/50 wpm |
You can study this course the number of hours per week that suits you and fits in with your other commitments.
We recommend that you study at least 5 hours a week, which can be broken up into one hour study slots perhaps, or 2-3 hours on a Saturday and Sunday if you find that easier.
Some students wish to study as quickly as possible – and complete the course in as short a time as possible.
The choice is yours!

The course is put on hold whilst you or the College are on holiday - enabling you to have holiday breaks whilst studying your course.
