Microsoft Word is one of the key programs used in business today. It is the main program used for word processing in the business world, enabling you to create letters, reports, articles, etc.
Word also has some specific features such as mail merge which enables you to prepare mail shots for marketing campaigns, a range of desktop publishing features to enhance your documents with pictures, diagrams and other art work and the ability to create integrated documents where files are imported from other types of programs to create comprehensive multi-page documents.
There are 3 Levels to choose from. For Level 2 and 3 you will need prior knowledge. Level 1 is for complete beginners.
Touch typing can be included in any of these courses to help develop your touch typing and speed typing skills. This is a free option for all of our Secretarial Courses.
You will gain either the:
OCR Level 1 in Word Processing
OCR Level 2 in Word Processing
OCR Level 3 in Word Processing
OCR (RSA) is an established exam board providing a range of GCSE, A Level, teaching and vocational qualifications.
OCR is part of the University of Cambridge which is Europe’s largest assessment board. They play a leading role in developing and delivering exams/assessments across the world, operating in over 150 countries.

Level 1
At this level you will be introduced to a range of tools used to produced word processed documents to enable you to create simple documents such as reports, letters, create tables, change font styles and use other formatting and set up page layouts.
Level 2
This level will develop your skills to a business standard with your working on more complex documents, using templates, using more complex formatting techniques, creating tables and forms, using different styles to follow house styles, use columns, and different checking tools to ensure professional documents are produced.
Level 3
At this level you will be working with more advanced Word tools using templates, audit and track changes, working with multiple documents, sharing and collaboration, customising tool bars and shortcuts, using styles for complex multi-page documents, creating complex tables and forms, use bookmarks and hyperlinks, outlines, master and sub-documents, multi-section documents, and use the mail merge features to create mailshots.
You can study this course full-time, or part-time – studying the number of hours per week that suits you and fits in with your other commitments.
We recommend that you study at least 5 hours a week, which can be broken up into one hour study slots perhaps, or 2-3 hours on a Saturday and Sunday if you find that easier.
Some students wish to study as quickly as possible – and complete the course in as short a time as possible.

The maximum duration within which a single Level course needs to be completed is 2 months.
The course is put on hold whilst you or the College are on holiday - enabling you to have holiday breaks whilst studying your course.
