Microsoft Excel enables businesses to present statistical information, create calculations, produce charts and graphs and be a key program in helping support the financial running of all businesses.
Business organisations use Microsoft Excel in many different ways - including stock control, profit and loss, monthly sales figures, identifying sales trends, providing management reports, providing key information to clients.
In Excel you can filter data, hide information, create simple calculations, as well as create complex functions to provide revised figures at the touch of a button!
Excel is a powerful program and saves hours of manual calculations having to be carried out.
There are 3 Levels to choose from. For Level 2 and 3 you will need prior knowledge. Level 1 is for complete beginners.
Touch typing can be included in any of these courses to help develop your touch typing and speed typing skills. This is a free option for all of our Secretarial Courses.
You will gain either the:
OCR Level 1 in Spreadsheets
OCR Level 2 in Spreadsheets
OCR Level 3 in Spreadsheets
OCR (RSA) is an established exam board providing a range of GCSE, A Level, teaching and vocational qualifications.
OCR is part of the University of Cambridge which is Europe’s largest assessment board. They play a leading role in developing and delivering exams/assessments across the world, operating in over 150 countries.

Level 1
You will learn the basics in creating spreadsheets, learning the different components which make up a spreadsheet, entering text and figures, editing data, creating simple calculations using functions and formulas, formatting cells, creating charts and graphs and producing spreadsheet reports.
Level 2
At this level you will learn to create more complex spreadsheets requiring more data entry, formatting and design. You will also learn how to manipulate the data to cover more complex calculations using functions and formulas including logical functions and conditional functions. You will also learn how to create a range of charts including pie, bar, line graphs, column, x-y scatter etc, modify default settings to personalise the design of graphs and charts. You will also produce a range of business standard reports.
Level 3
At the advanced level you will develop your skills to cover more advanced features including hiding, protecting, data validation, combining and linking data, how to analyse and interpret spreadsheet data, foracasting tools, formatting to advanced level, creating complex charts and graphs, and auditing tools to help identify problems with spreadsheets.
You can study this course full-time, or part-time – studying the number of hours per week that suits you and fits in with your other commitments.
We recommend that you study at least 5 hours a week, which can be broken up into one hour study slots perhaps, or 2-3 hours on a Saturday and Sunday if you find that easier.
Some students wish to study as quickly as possible – and complete the course in as short a time as possible.

The maximum duration within which a single Level course needs to be completed is 2 months.
The course is put on hold whilst you or the College are on holiday - enabling you to have holiday breaks whilst studying your course.
