IT Advanced for Beginners Course

This course is designed for those with little or no experience and who would like to train up to an advanced level in one course.

Overview

This course is suitable if you have basic computer skills and you now wish to learn to an advanced standard enabling you to complement other qualifications and experience you have gained to improve your job opportunities.

Learning to an advanced level will enhance your job opportunities and enable you to cope with a more demanding role in using IT in the workplace.

You will be studying for the following Diploma on this Course:

OCR Level 3 Diploma in IT


OCR is a leading UK exam awarding body, committed to providing public qualifications at GCSE and A Level, as well as a wide range of vocational qualifications for those studying at College – either part time or full time.  They develop their qualifications in close consultation with teachers, industry leaders and government to ensure they are relevant for learners today and meet employers’ requirements.

OCR is part of the University of Cambridge which is Europe’s largest assessment board.  They play a leading role in developing and delivering exams/assessments across the world, operating in over 150 countries.
 

Modules

OCR Level 3 Diploma in IT

Word

Developing word processing skills to a high standard covering a range of Word tools to create complex documents

PowerPoint

Creating complex slide presentations using a range of different slide displays, speakers notes, transition effects and animation

Outlook

Developing email, and personal information management skills to help organise yourself and your line manager

Publisher

Producing quality publications suitable for brochures, leaflets used at exhibitions and other promotional requirements

Access

Developing ability to create databases, enter data, interrogate data and produce reports

Excel

Learning how to use spread sheets to produce statistical information, create advanced formulae and functions, charts and reports

Internet Explorer

Developing your skills in using this program to search the WWW for research purposes

IT Productivity

Understanding how to use different programs in the office environment

Duration

You can study this course full-time, or part-time – studying the number of hours per week that suits you and fits in with your other commitments.

We recommend that you study at least 5 hours a week, which can be broken up into one hour study slots perhaps, or 2-3 hours on a Saturday and Sunday if you find that easier.

Some students wish to study as quickly as possible – and complete the course in as short a time as possible.

The choice is yours!

For your guidance, if you study regularly these hours per week, you should complete the course within:

5 hours per week on average  

12 months

10 hours per week on average

6 months

20 hours per week on average

4 months

Over 30 hours per week on average

3 months

 The maximum duration within which this course needs to be completed is 12 months.

The course is put on hold whilst you or the College are on holiday - enabling you to have holiday breaks whilst studying your course.
