Graduate PA Summer 2012 Fast Track Course

All of our courses are taught through distance learning - we have tutors/lecturers here at the College Mondays to Fridays working with our students on a daily basis, corresponding through email, sending and receiving work, providing feedback, identifying problems, marking work, and providing guidance and exam/assessment preparation.  

There is no need for you to attend the College and you can study full time or part time to fit in around your other commitments.  We are just a click away!

Overview

Available from June 2012 - specifically designed for Graduates/A Level Students going to University this Autumn!  If you haven't quite finished the course - you can still continue to study when back at University.  Study at pace to suit you through the summer break.

A fast track course to complement your Degree and to help get you working in the business world.  Specifically designed to enable Graduates to gain qualifications easily whilst studying at home and through the summer months before returning to University.

These qualifications will open up the job market and help you start your career in the business world and get ahead!

Careers advice and guidance will include covering ideas on how you can use your degree in different types of businesses when combined with the OCR qualifications gained on this course, to help making the most of your degree.

You will be studying for the following qualifications on this Course as follows:

OCR Level 2 Diploma in IT (9 modules)

OCR Level 2 Support Business Meetings

OCR Level 3 Organising a Business Event

OCR Level 3 Carry out Research and prepare a Report

Lewis College Certificates in Text Production, Speed Keying and Audio Transcription

Text Production

Developing your skills in producing different types of business documents requiring advanced English and proof reading skills

Audio Transcription

Producing business documents from dictation requiring advanced English and proof reading skills

Speed Keying

Developing your touch typing skills and speed to over 55 wpm

OCR Level 2 Diploma in IT

Word

Developing word processing skills to a high standard covering a range of Word tools to create complex documents, use mailmerge, editing techniques, desk top publishing features, templates.

PowerPoint

Creating complex slide presentations using a range of different slide displays, speakers notes, transition effects and animation

Outlook

Developing email, and personal information management skills to help organise yourself and your line manager

Publisher

Producing quality publications suitable for brochures, leaflets used at exhibitions and other promotional requirements

Excel

Learning how to use spread sheets to produce statistical information, create formulae and functions, charts and reports

Access

Developing ability to create databases, enter data, interrogate data and produce reports

Internet Explorer

Developing your skills in using this program to search the WWW for research purposes

IT Productivity

Understanding how to use different programs in the office environment

OCR Administration

 
Business Meetings Learn how to support preparing for a business meeting and prepare meeting documents
Carry out Research and prepare a Report

Develop your skills in carrying out research using the Internet and prepare a complex Report

Duration

You can study this course full-time, or part-time – studying the number of hours per week that suits you and fits in with your other commitments.

We recommend that you study at least 10 hours a week, which can be broken up into one hour study slots perhaps, or 2-3 hours if you find that easier.

Some students wish to study as quickly as possible – and complete the course in as short a time as possible.

The choice is yours!

For your guidance, if you study regularly these hours per week, you should complete the course within:


10 hours per week on average

8 weeks

20 hours per week on average

4 weeks

Over 30 hours per week on average

2 weeks

 The maximum duration within which this course needs to be completed is 8 weeks.

The course is put on hold whilst you or the College are on holiday - enabling you to have holiday breaks whilst studying your course.
